The Design Minded Approach
When Sidley Austin asked us to work with them to develop a retrospective exhibit in their corporate visitor center, we knew that a project like this was an activity outside of their typical undertakings as a law firm.
Know your audience is the time tested philosophy for any successful performer. For us, that philosophy translates into know your clients. Our strategy from day one was to present visuals and renderings that were as close to the actual end product as possible; then produce the exhibit exactly like the visuals.
Spanning the 37th and 38th floors of their main headquarters at One South Dearborn in Chicago, this exhibit commemorates the 150th anniversary of the founding of the firm. In addition, It also serves to engage and inform visitors and employees alike of the rich history and traditions of this storied firm.
Utilizing an adhesive system that we developed for this project, we were able to safely attach these 1/8″ vinyl wrapped dibond panels directly to the walls without hardware or cleats. Since the exhibit is up continuously for 1 year, we needed to develop a solution that wouldn’t damage the facility wall but still allowed us to create this floating panel effect.
Subtle details in materials selection were also used to add interest; such as these 9′ tall seamless oversized art prints on canvas.
The soft texture of the canvas on the entry walls contrasts the sleek and modern laminated panels in the adjacent space of the corporate visitor center.
Media components were also incorporated on the 37th Floor space that the firm utilizes for conferences and meetings. A network enabled media player was integrated with a highly directional overhead speaker which allows the content displayed to be easily customized for each specific event.
