When Bridgewater Studio was asked to create an officially licensed sculpture of the Star Wars character BB-8, we jumped at the chance to be a part of the iconic sci-fi franchise. The final piece would be displayed at the “Aliens and Androids” touring exhibit in which 9 different immersive environments depicted the ever-growing advances of science and technology. Cool!
First, our in-house team used custom 3D printing to CNC carve each of the parts. Then, we hand-sculpted the BB-8 character to its final form. Third, we used advanced finishing techniques to ensure the sculpture’s details were a perfect representation of the cinematic fan favorite.
